On a sweltering July night in 1929, the town of Whitney bustles despite the heat. Sheriff Dave Fellows spots Dr. Thomas, usually sober, staggering down Main Street. As Fellows rushes to help, the doctor collapses and is struck by a speeding car, setting off a chain of events the town won’t forget.
